My Jedi pick for video of the week.

Beginning scene of the new HBO series The Newsroom explaining why America’s Not the Greatest Country Any Longer… But It Can Be.
Tiësto has joined Red Light Management under its influential founder Coran Capshaw,
The move makes the Dutch DJ/producer the first major electronic dance artist to link up with a major manager from outside the genre. It also ends his long-time management relationship with Complete Control, the Brooklyn-based company that helped build him into a social media and touring powerhouse, and the most sponsored artist in dance music.
Tiësto will stay with AM Only, the booking agency that recently formed a joint venture with Paradigm.
Over the last five years, Tiësto accrued nearly 13.5 million Facebook fans and 1.5 million Twitter followers; became the first solo DJ to sell out an arena (Carson, Calif.’s Home Depot Center), and the second to land on the cover of Billboard (afterDavid Guetta); and inked lucrative deals with cross-category brands, including HP, Heineken, Unilever, AKG, and even competing clothiers GUESS and Armani Exchange.
Capshaw looks after artists including Dave Matthews Band, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, and Phish, with a policy of “freedom and flexibility.” His direct-to-fan marketing expertise (he founded MusicToday, and sold it to Live Nation in 2007) will inevitably help Tiësto leverage his massive social footprint, and maximize his own merchandising efforts, including his Club Life clothing line.
Capshaw declined comment on the news.

CLASSIC MUSIC VIDEO MOMENT
2Pac featuring Dr.Dre and Roger Troutman
Track: California Love
Director: Hype Williams
“California Love” was the first single after 2 Pac Amaru Shakur’s release from incarceration in 1995. AND WHAT A WAY TO COME BACK!! The video was inspired by the post-apocalyptic film Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. The cast included Chris Tucker, Tony Cox and the talking box Roger Troutman. The art direction and costume design payed homage to the original film but added its own sense of Hip Hop style and flair. As a fan of the original Mad Max film francise this video.. this song.. this collaboration.. this direction will remain one of my all time favourites.
Streetcar Sessions is a new series that does exactly what it says on the tin. Showcasing some of Toronto’s top musical talent, it will pop up when you least expect it on a streetcar somewhere within the city limits.
Streetcar Sessions 001 features Craig Stickland.
Stickland, 25, is a singer-songwriter born and raised in the T-dot. He makes harmony-driven pop music built on a solid foundation of watertight songwriting. A multi-instrumentalist, he spent four years honing his skills in Toronto band We Are The Take before going solo. He is releasing a steady stream of new material via YouTube and his website and has a new LP in the works called Kings and Beggars.
Streetcar Sessions is produces and directed by Kevin Barton, EVP Studio Entertainment at Culturalite Media Inc.
CLASSIC MUSIC VIDEO MOMENT
Marilyn Manson
Track: The Beautiful People
Director: Floria Sigismondi, Chris Soos
“The Beautiful People” was a statement coming out of the late 80’s hair metal era and post grunge. Marylin Manson is entirely androgynous, and a fusion of Goth/Metal combined with edgy lyrics and controversial social topics. Marylin fit the bill perfectly to fill the void which was left and brought a new milieu for music to the populace. Combined with extraordinaire art direction, costume design and frenetic editing this video was visually a step above.
CLASSIC MUSIC VIDEO MOMENT
Artist: Eminem
Track: Stan
Director: Phil Atwell, Dr.Dre
One of the first dramatic short film styled videos that Eminem would become synonymous for producing. Phil Atwell and Dr. Dre’s video direction and story line are perfectly timed bringing this twisted plot of a disturbed fan to life. Artist Dido guest appears singing the songs powerful hook.
